Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet area in the West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" location. It is the West Island, to those who are unfamiliar with it, is an extensive region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time in the city wasn't long. Brugel grew to be an aspiring young lady within Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. She initially wanted to be an actor, However, following a dramatic increase in size, her friends could no longer dance along with her. The Toronto Star article revealed she's six feet tall, with heels. When I grew out of male companions and gave up, I decided to give up. A lot of former dancers go on to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was a suggestion from a high school drama teacher who pushed her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try to get a role for school's annual production. She auditioned and was cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in 2000. Since then, she's appeared performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. The most notable was when she landed Rita's role on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian in the Season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the only Canadian.
